Cornell McBride, Sr.

More than 40 years ago, Cornell McBride, Sr. demonstrated remarkable foresight by investing in land. Between 1981 and 1984, he acquired 356 acres of pristine land in Rockdale County, characterized by lush forests, a serene lake, and a cabin. Over time, he contributed to the community by selling 85 acres to Rockdale County for the development of walking trails and a school.
Additionally, he transformed the remaining land into a tree farm, fostering the growth of trees that play a crucial role in sustaining life by absorbing carbon dioxide, emitting fresh oxygen, stabilizing soil, safeguarding water supplies, and providing sanctuary for wildlife within picturesque green belts. Today, the community of Grand Cayman Estates is situated on 80 acres of this environmentally conscious land.
In 2006, the decision to develop the land struck Cornell as a lucrative investment opportunity. Inspired to create more than just a residential space, he envisioned a gated community where prospective homeowners could acquire lots of over an acre to construct their dream homes, and Saint Pius Properties, LLC as well as Saint Pius Construction, LLC were born. Now, 17 years later, the initial idea has evolved into a larger vision for a community boasting over 120 homes, developed in carefully planned phases.
What started as a mere investment transformed into a commitment to responsible building practices. Cornell aimed to accentuate the natural allure of the region by minimizing tree cutting and creating an environment where residents could relish their time outdoors as much as the comfort of their custom homes, all within the serene beauty that defines Grand Cayman Estates.
